With her passion for the written word and interest in public relations, Ilana oversees firm communications for Heyman Associates.  She writes, edits and manages copy for client and candidate correspondence as well as for business development initiatives, including executive speeches and presentations.

Ilana also coordinates updates for HA’s website and serves as editor-in-chief of the e-newsletter, Positioning, for which she assesses story ideas, writes articles, manages writers and prepares issues for publication.

Prior to joining Heyman, Ilana coordinated corporate communications, public relations and business affairs for five years at The Metropolitan Opera.  Previously, as part of the creative team at a celebrity startup, she contributed to all communications, including new business pitch presentations, executive speeches and website content.

Earlier in her career, Ilana was a human resources generalist at Lehman Brothers, where she gained internal communications experience, dealt with some aspects of recruiting and developed her business acumen.

“My exposure to the corporate and nonprofit worlds, including my taste of recruiting in my HR role, enables me to draw upon a broad and relevant perspective in my writing responsibilities for HA.”

Ilana graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she became a member of the National Honor Society in History without disrupting her perfect attendance at Wolverine football games.  In her spare time, she satisfies her eclectic reading taste by enjoying everything from serious histories to comedic memoirs and tries not to offset her weight training with too much dark chocolate.
